HypnoBirthing Commonly Asked Questions
My partner works. Is it necessary for them to attend?
We recommend that partner’s attend all HypnoBirthing classes wherever possible. If the partner cannot attend, I recommend your support person join. This person can be a doula or family member.
There is flexibility for special circumstances. Talk with me to figure out how we can work with these circumstances and arrange for private in-home sessions.
What will I receive for attending classes?
You will receive:
Book: HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method
Digital Downloads for Relaxation
Spiral bound notebook with course materials
Course handouts.
Continual support and understanding as you journey through this course
Trust and guidance from your HypnoBirthing practitioner
How soon should I begin classes?
It is recommended that you take the classes sometime between month 5-8 of your pregnancy. However, it is never too early to sign up. The earlier in your pregnancy that you take this class, the more time you will have to practice! And, it is never too late either. You can always benefit from taking the HypnoBirthing® classes regardless of when you take them. Moms that have taken private classes during their last weeks have had as much success as those that took the classes in the first trimester.
Can I do a condensed, one day course?
It is NOT recommended as part of the HypnoBirthing program in order to achieve optimal benefits.
The exception is when you are very late in your pregnancy. Where the 5 class sessions will be combined into a shorter period of time.
The five week HypnoBirthing course gives adequate time for practice, reflection, time to get to know your baby and to know what and how you wish to birth.
A condensed course can create information overload. We are learning from the hospitals that mothers that have taken weekend courses with other programs are not doing as well. We know that this program has been cleverly designed over the 5 sessions to release fears and have positive preparation. We want you to have the best birth you can, so we would be shortchanging you by working with you over a weekend. The 5 session format is definitely best for learning, results and preparing for a happy, calm birth.
There are other hypnosis programs. How do I know what method this is?
The gold HypnoBirthing emblem is a sign of both credibility and professionalism for practitioners internationally. This emblem is only given to those practitioners who have pushed themselves to successfully complete the extensive HypnoBirthing certification classes and training.
While other hypnosis programs do exist, I am certified in HypnoBirhthing- The Mongan Method.
What if my birthing preferences change and special circumstances arise?
If a special circumstances should arise that requires extra medical or technological assistance such as a breech presentation, induction or a surgical birth being required, the relaxation techniques and birth and parenting education provided by HypnoBirthing® the Mongan Method can be hugely beneficial in these circumstances. In helping you to remain calm, relaxed and feel in control you, your partner and baby can still have a very positive birth experience where medical intervention is needed. I want you to walk away with a positive birth experience. Feeling informed and empowered.
